This area has been a crossroads since ancient times, and boasts advanced expressway networks. The Tomei Expressway allows access to Tokyo in four hours and the Meishin Expressway reaches Osaka in 2 hours. In addition, the Chuo Expressway leads to Tokyo via Nagano and Yamanashi prefectures, and the Tokai Hokuriku Expressway leads to the Hokuriku Region.
